Why I stopped chasing realism in mobile racers
I used to want mobile racers to feel like driving a real car. Now I mostly want them to feel good in short bursts, and that's a different goal entirely.
Neon Drift League taught me the difference. It's pure arcade, built around drifting and chaining boosts, with short loops you replay for a cleaner line. There's nothing realistic about it, and it's fantastic precisely because of that.
Touch controls just aren't suited to fine steering inputs. Arcade racers lean into that by making the fun about rhythm and timing instead of precision throttle control. It plays to the platform's strengths instead of fighting them.
So if you keep bouncing off mobile sims, try flipping the other direction. A good arcade racer might be exactly what you were missing.
